This presitigious project, awarded to U.W. Marx by the National Archives and Records Administration, included extensive renovations and restoration at the FDR Presidential Library and Museum, as well as new construction of the Henry A. Wallace Visitor, Education & Conference Center.

U.W. Marx's assignment as construction manager was to work with Butler Rowland Mays Architects, LLP of Ballston Spa, NY to renovate the existing building into a first-rate retrofit museum befitting the Upstate New York horse-racing and resort community. |
Saugerties Public Library
ADDITIONS, RENOVATIONS AND RESTORATION / CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

U.W. Marx served as construction manager for an additions, renovations and restoration project at the Saugerties Public Library's 1915 Carnegie Library. The library's site was extremely limited for construction operations, and required a collaborative, continually communicated approach in order to mitigate any disruptions to the daily lives of the library's neighbors. |
Acton Civill Senior Apartments
HISTORIC RENOVATION / CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AT RISK

U.W. Marx was hired to carefully renovate and convert the long-vacant and deteriorated school building into a much-needed community senior housing facility. The U.W. Marx CM Team successfully converted the National Historic Register-listed building, constructed in 1874, into 28 apartments designed for moderate income senior citizens. |
Linda A. Norris Auditorium & WAMC Northeast Public Radio Studio

The CM Team from U.W. Marx converted an historic bank building into a state-of-the-art radio studio for WAMC Northeast Public Radio. The project included renovating the first floor of the building into the new 200-seat Linda A. Norris Auditorium. |
Proctors Theater Stagehouse Expansion
HISTORICAL RENOVATION / GENERAL CONTRACTING

U.W. Marx constructed additions and renovations to Schenectady’s historic Proctors Theater. Proctors, constructed in 1926, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Work at the theater included a 20,000 s/f expansion of the stage area, allowing the theater to attract larger touring shows. Renovations were also conducted on all levels of the theater and east arcade. |
Gideon Putnam Hotel & Conference Center

U.W. Marx conducted two unique construction projects on the grounds of the landmark hotel, located in the heart of the Saratoga Spa State Park. In 1981, U.W. Marx constructed a major addition at the Gideon Putnam Convention Center. In 1990, U.W. Marx constructed significant renovations at the Gideon Putnam Hotel. |
Mohonk Mountain House
HISTORICAL RENOVATION / GENERAL CONTRACTING

U.W. Marx constructed significant renovations and improvements to the commercial kitchens and catering facilities of the historic Mohonk Mountain House, located on Lake Mohonk outside the village of New Paltz, NY. The Mohonk Mountain House was constructed between 1879 and 1910 by Alfred and Albert Smiley, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986. |
