David Viniar Athletic Center, Union College, Schenectady, NY U.W. Marx teamed up with Cannon Design Group of Boston, MA and Clough Harbour Sports of Albany, NY to construct the new David Viniar Athletic Center on the campus of Union College in Schenectady, NY. The Design-Build project consisted of constructing a new 1,000-seat multi-use facility connected to the east end of Union's Memorial Field House, with direct access to the existing structure's equipment storage facilities and locker rooms. The building hosts the men's and women's NCAA Division III basketball teams and intramural athletic programs. The fast-tracked project was completed in October 2004, in time for the beginning of the Union College women's basketball season. |
Recreation and Convocation Center at UAlbany, Albany, NY Located on the SUNY University at Albany campus, "The R.A.C.C." was built to accommodate the college's increasing student population, and to feature "The Great Dane" basketball and volleyball teams. The facility is used throughout the year for sporting events, concerts and commencement activities. The R.A.C.C. has also served as summer home to the National Football League's New York Giants since 1996. U.W. Marx built the 4,538 seating-capacity gymnasium adjacent to the existing Physical Education Department. The two story-level facility increased athletic department capacity to 200,000 SF adding locker rooms, racquetball courts, a nautilus room, indoor track, basketball, and volleyball courts. Included in the construction was a tunnel connecting the R.A.C.C. with an existing sports/athletic building. |
