NEW CONSTRUCTION / GENERAL CONTRACTING
SUNY Administration Parking Structure
Located near Interstate 787 in downtown Albany, this modern parking structure provides five levels of parking,
totaling 679 spaces, for SUNY Administration staff and visitors. After workers unearthed potentially significant artifacts at the site, Hartgen Archeological Associates was called in to conduct an extensive dig in close coordination with the U.W. Marx team.
The site was found to contain numerous significant artifacts, including items left behind by Native Americans
and early Dutch settlers. Portions of Albany’s early 1600’s Fort Orange stockade were also revealed.
Constructed under contract with the State University Construction Fund, the 51,000 s/f parking structure was
begun by U.W. Marx in the spring of 1999 and was completed in 2000, on time and within budget.

NEW CONSTRUCTION / GENERAL CONTRACTING
Quackenbush Square Parking Facility
Visible from Interstate 787, the structure is located near the Clinton Avenue overpass in Albany, NY.
The parking facility was completed on a fast-track schedule, on time and under budget. Construction timetables were met even as archeologists studied the historically significant remains of a distillery that operated on the site from approximately 1750 to 1810.
Features of the all pre-cast concrete structure include an impressive stair tower, resembling a bell tower with rows of mullioned windows on each parking level. The tower provides an aesthetic focal point, with the brick facade continuing the appearance of the single-story office building fronting the facility.
The project's successful completion reflects the teamwork displayed by U.W. Marx, project architect
Desman Associates of New York City, and the
City of Albany Parking Authority.
