U.W. Marx is providing construction services to St. Peter's Hospital for multiple projects on the healthcare facility campus, including renovations and additions to the Cancer Care Center, Electrophysiology Lab, Dialysis Room and Medical Library, as well as the contruction of eight new operating rooms and clinical laboratories. The projects are part of a larger $300 million expansion and renovation of the hospital, allowing it to continue its history of providing high-quality health care to NY's Capital District.

The Cancer Care Center project consisted of 12,000 SF of interior renovation and a 3,000 SF addition to the existing facility. The scope of work included demolition, cast-in-place concrete foundations and a new linear accelerator vault.

Marx has worked closely with Envision Architects, ICOR Engineering, Ryan-Biggs Associates and Excel Engineering, carefully coordinating the consultants and subcontractors to ensure that the multi-phased, fast-tracked projects allow the hospital's operations to continue unabated throughout all construction processes.

MARX/GILBANE - A Joint Venture served as Construction Manager for this new $45 million biotechnology cancer research center, constructed on a fast-track delivery method for the University at Albany Foundation on the university's East Campus in East Greenbush, NY.

The U.W. MARX/GILBANE Building Company team worked with architectural firm Einhorn Yaffee Prescott Architecture & Engineering, P.C. to build the new award-winning research facility as part of a New York State economic development program.

The 116,000-square-foot research facility contains labs, vivarium, offices, conference spaces, seminar auditorium and fitness suite, allowing university faculty to conduct collaborative cancer research with industry partners in a state-of-the-art biotechnology facility.

The facility also houses specialized research areas for molecular biology, bioinformatics, genetic exploration and pre-clinical studies.

The Cancer Research Center features a two-story "Wall of Memory and Hope" displaying plaques or inscriptions from donors who wish to memorialize individuals affected by cancer.

U.W. Marx worked under Contract 29e of the NanoFab II Cleanroom Expansion at the UAlbany Institute for Materials Center for Environmental Sciences and Technology Management / Albany NanoTech complex.

As a sub-contractor, the Marx team installed the structure for the 225,000 SF facility, which houses a 35,000 SF cleanroom for prototyping and fabrication of 300mm semiconductor wafers.

Completion of the CESTM Phase II project positioned the UAlbany business incubator as one of only 20 facilities in the world capable of producing the next-generation 300mm wafers.

The project was recognized by New York Construction News with a 'Best of 2004 Award of Merit: Education Category'.

RESEARCH LABORATORY / INTERIOR FIT-OUT

Laboratory Fit-Out, Confidential Client, Tech Valley, NY

U.W. Marx was hired by a confidential Tech Valley client to construct the interior fit-out of the client's flagship research laboratory. The $30 million project required an extremely aggressive schedule and a high level of coordination among all members of the project team in order to meet the needs of the client.

The five story, 105,000 SF facility fit-out was constructed under a GMP contract, with elements of Design-Build construction also required. The state-of-the-art facility was built to house the client's next generation "wet labs", allowing the client to ramp up its research in genomics, proteomics and nanotechnology.
