RESEARCH LABORATORY / NEW CONSTRUCTION
Gen*NY*Sis Center for Excellence in Cancer Genomics / Cancer Research Center, East Greenbush, NY
U.W. Marx provided construction management at-risk services for this new $45 million biotechnology cancer research center, constructed on a fast-track delivery method
for the University at Albany Foundation on the university's East Campus in East Greenbush, NY.
The U.W. Marx team worked with architectural firm Einhorn Yaffee Prescott Architecture & Engineering, P.C.
to build the new award-winning research facility as
part of a New York State economic development program.
The 116,000 s/f research facility contains labs, vivarium, offices, conference spaces, seminar auditorium and fitness suite,
allowing university faculty to conduct collaborative cancer research
with industry partners in a state-of-the-art biotechnology facility.
The facility also houses specialized research areas for molecular biology, bioinformatics, genetic exploration and pre-clinical studies.
The Cancer Research Center features a two-story "Wall of Memory and Hope" displaying plaques or inscriptions from donors who wish to
memorialize individuals affected by cancer.
