NEW CONSTRUCTION / DESIGN-BUILD


City School District of Rensselaer, New PreK-12 Campus, Rensselaer, NY

U.W. Marx constructed a new 278,000 square-foot K-12 campus on a 43-acre parcel of land in the city's north end for the City School District of Rensselaer.

The new facility includes all the features of a modern educational campus, including modern science labs, networked classrooms, auditorium, gymnasium, athletic fields, library, and administrative offices. Completed in December of 2007, the energy-efficient structure provides a modern and secure learning environment for more than 1,300 students.

The project also included construction of an access road from 10th Street to the new campus.

RENOVATIONS & ADDITIONS / CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT


Saugerties Central School District Capital Improvements Project, Saugerties, NY

The U.W. Marx construction management division is conducting extensive upgrades and repairs at Saugerties Central School District's five school buildings and administration building.

Included in the project is the replacement of aging heating, plumbing and electrical systems, as well as new doors, windows and roofs throughout the district. Improvements will also be made to improve handicapped access to the district's facilities.

The project also includes many new science classrooms, a new media center and an addition to the music department.

Current plans show the $27.5 million project reaching completion as scheduled in the fall of 2008.

NEW CONSTRUCTION


Union Vale Middle School and Vail Farm Elementary School, Arlington Central School District, Union Vale, NY

U.W. Marx provided general contracting services for the combined 250,000 square-foot building project, located on a 100-acre site in the Town of Union Vale, NY. The new Arlington Central School District facilities now provide a high-tech learning environment for more than 1,500 students.

Since 1998, Marx has provided new construction services and performed extensive renovations on more than 500,000 square feet of educational facilities for the Dutchess County school district.

ADDITIONS AND RENOVATIONS


Brunswick Central School District, Troy, NY

U.W. Marx provided construction management services for additions and renovations to the district's three schools (Tamarac High School, Middle School, and Elementary School).

At the Elementary School, work included a new media center, a new gym station, several new classrooms, and a new vestibule.

Additions to the Middle/High School included a new gym, new locker rooms, new auditorium, new lobby vestibule, and numerous new science labs and classrooms.

NEW CONSTRUCTION, ADDITIONS AND RENOVATIONS


Red Hook Central Schools, Red Hook, NY

This project involved the Mill Road Elementary School, Linden Avenue Middle School and the Red Hook High School.

A 33,000 SF addition and a 25,000 SF renovation were conducted at Linden Avenue Middle School. The new gymnasium, nine new classrooms, 11,000 SF six-bay bus garage addition and storage faciliies will help the district continue to meet the needs of a steadily increasing student body (2,200+) and dedicated teaching staff of more than 300.

The high school building improvements included a 22,000 SF addition and 6,000 SF in renovation construction (exterior and interior). The scope of work included ten new classrooms, a four station gymnasium, conversion of a gym/auditorium to an auditorium/large group instructional area, a new pupil personnel office, a running track, and six new playing fields.

NEW CONSTRUCTION

Spanning 33 acres, this new school facility is two stories high, and has a total floor area of 200,000 SF. The ground level area alone is 160,000 SF. An elevator and ramp were installed to accommodate access to the 40,000 SF second level. Some 700 computer hook-ups were integrated, providing "cutting edge" technology throughout the facility.

In addition to the building's more than sixty new classrooms are a 1,200-seat auditorium, a 25 meter six-lane pool, television & recording studios, a library/media center and state-of-the-art science labs. The U.W. Marx team also constructed a community fitness trail surrounding the athletic fields. The new high school serves an estimated 1,200 students, and is considered a "model" for future educational buildings!

ADDITIONS AND RENOVATIONS


Mohonasen High School, Rotterdam, NY

U.W. Marx provided has provided general contracting and construction management services for multiple projects for the Mohonasen Central School District, located in Rotterdam, NY. The work at Mohonasen has included enlarging the gym, adding new girl's and boy's locker rooms, constructing twelve new classrooms, modernizing the auditorium, building a new state-of-the-art audio/video classroom, and renovating the science and art rooms.

Renovations of the pool area are particularly impressive. Students, teachers, and parents can now view swim race competitions from a 25-foot-high mezzanine. The construction performed will serve the students and surrounding community for years to come.
